My son was inspired by Mo Willems.
He enjoyed the pigeon books at school, and drew a few pigeons.
At home, he watched the YouTube clip, and seemed to take the suggestion very seriously (although not personally) that he writes a book for Mo Willems to read. He instructed me to make a large paper pigeon while he wrote his book (‘Don’t let the pigeon go to school’).
After all that effort, I just couldn’t keep myself from making a felt pigeon. The designs are so simple that the pattern is just there on the page, although I was working from my son’s drawings rather than the original books.
It was a very satisfying time for both of us.
