don’t let the pigeon…

My son was inspired by Mo Willems.

He enjoyed the pigeon books at school, and drew a few pigeons.

3 pigeonsAt home, he watched the YouTube clip, and seemed to take the suggestion very seriously (although not personally) that he writes a book for Mo Willems to read. He instructed me to make a large paper pigeon while he wrote his book (‘Don’t let the pigeon go to school’).

That was not enough. He then made a Lego pigeon. He decided that pigeon wasn’t large enough, and made another, larger, Lego pigeon. Then he made the duck that appears in some of the books. lego pigeons

After all that effort, I just couldn’t keep myself from making a felt pigeon. The designs are so simple that the pattern is just there on the page, although I was working from my son’s drawings rather than the original books.felt pigeon alone

It was a very satisfying time for both of us.
